The world looks sunny
Ain't it?
Brightly colored fun
And the Ocher grim
But behind all this intent
A monster glares at you.
You've been a kid
Happy-go-lucky
And wham!
It pounces...
It ruined you
Impregnated you with truth
Hard and bitter.

Don't snatch the innocence away
Don't show me the insides
I wish to not know...

A simple wish that can never be granted.
Loved the theme.
Not knowing has its own advantages...Sometimes, it is better to not know and have a great time rather than knowing and sulking:(
But, wishes aren't always granted.
My sisters sons have come down and looking t their innocence, I wish I had my innocence back...
Nice poem
as someone mentioned a small wish but so very difficult to fulfill..
But world is cruel we hear and see things when we dont want to .. thats Life ..
Bikram's
And yet...it all comes spilling out!
Beautiful thought! :)
Reminds me somehow, of lines from Gray's 'Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College':
"To each his sufferings:
...Where Thought would destroy their paradise.
No more; where ignorance is bliss,
'Tis folly to be wise.

Indeed! Innocence, the pristine state of mind, is invaluable. Exquisite writing.
