One more time

-->

-->
I flared a smile,
Met by contempt
 You looked down at me.

I did everything
Explained you frantically
You didn’t believe.

You said things
I was hurt
You were hurt.

Did things end?
Yes,
One more time...
-->
ps: To my Bestest Friend.

Fountain

I rise from you
Up, ecstatic
I fall back to you
Rejoiced, rippled
Collected in a pool
Tranquilized, possessed.

I am finding myself
After losing
Into you.

I Am Home.

Grim air
To light spirits.
Thick accent
To endless chuckles.
Last minute cramming
To laid back readings.
High on caffeine nights
To many coffee tables.
A bunch of greets
To greeting slangs.
Pleasing allies
To hailing sidekicks.
Victory after victory
To relishing life;

I am here,
I am home.

Anonymous

Disheveled in mind
Thoughts;
They born, they break.

What pained was
When I didn't reach them
For they had reached me .

And the ones which remained unattended
Were the ones which were amply me
Scattered everywhere
Ranting hard, such a show-off !

Docilely now
I very much stand here
Don't I?

Then succumbed to anonymity
Who was it?

DURGA

A familiar fragrance grows on you
the light smoke
sketching an aura divine.
The vivid vermillion around
spreads strong.
And walking through the string of diyas
Intense.

I stand before her;
Ablazed.

Gift?

The silver box is packed
In the hope to see a smile
The folds pressing love
Layer by layer...

The silver box is opened
In disbelief
And numbness creeps in
With each fold.

That smile slowly fades away
And instead
A tear is dropped.

Wouldn't you love such a gift?

Diamond
Undiscovered, rare.
And just the rough they saw !

How do I blame them?

For
It needs to be me
To see you.

Utopia It Is…

Today he’s laughing
Today’s he’s enjoying
Full of life, full of love
A day of his puppets
Reflects his verve.

A perfect day planned for them
A classic you see begins;
They yearned for it
So out of reach it seemed
But today they are living their dream.

The subtle fragrance of incense and flowers
Gently wafts in the breeze
Yes truly this is
How it begins!

Purity of hearts
Serenity of minds
That’s how the utopian mates
Were puppets divine.

Gurgling water splashing over stones
The bubbles dance, sings that song
Of the joy that each moment holds
The endless tale of eternal bliss
Putting life to lifeless
Utopia it is…

Making way through those slippery stones
A quest to capture moments so fine
Those cheers and floating laughter
Gawd! It’s all so hard to define.

The melted chocolate
Slaking the souls
Both of them
Enjoying the luxury of their roles
The air of togetherness
Raising the spirits
And those silly attempts to startle, amuse and tease
Aah! Utopia it is…

The master rejoices
For putting up such a fine show
With a heavy heart he drops the curtain
And his tears of joy begins to pour

But the magic of this day will never cease
That’s why we say
Utopia it is
Utopia it is…

Wonder

Ecstasy
is to find
what you lost
ages ago.

What you dreamt today
can still be lived !

But
to live
a day spent
years ago is;

Wonder.

June 28, 2010

Someday...

My contours ripple
neatly combed by waters
gushes smooth
will soon be carried by the billows
miles away...

You sit there
gazing strongly
where in depths
I lie...

And again
you smile today.

I meet you here everyday
hoping that the stream
would flow back
someday...

Here & Now

Life @ SVL...
expressions of a member

"The depth of a relation does not depend upon the length of acquaintanceship."
                                                - Rabindranath Tagore

It will soon turn out to be an year of glorious association but the fond memories and experiences I'll take from here are profound and worth cherishing.
It goes far beyond the connect of being a reader and books to a level of being a member and a family. The latter though primary is still uncommon.
And I feel so lucky and blessed to have experienced it all.

Study groups, passionate quizzers, objective clubs, enthusiasts of various- it serves not just to be a pool of many but lets the interests of few also survive.
Education workshops, quizzes, debate, book releases and other such events help establish a sense of awareness. And not only this it also gives an alarm to one's own interests.

I've seen myself grow inside out here, an extreme difference both individually and societally by the platform it provides to its members.
It has upsurged wide array of my personality and has groomed me gradually.

Now that I move on to next level in my career, I know I have a mentor and friends here who will be the plinth when I have a journey ahead. Swami Vivekananda Library has given me a mentor that moulded me in the best possible way.

My sincere thanks to this place. I love to be a part of it.

Regards,
A proud family member.

Sometimes you need to go unguarded
To face the world
At times you need to be raw
To be apart from the herd.

Things have to be forgotten
To start new ones
Things have to be remembered
To reload your guns.

Whatever you desire
You rise up to reach
But midway you might feel
It's not exactly what you seek.

Then what do you do?
Fall back disheartened!
No, there's nothing wrong anywhere
You just had your realization.

I'm in no mood to preach
Just want to say
That the best things in life
Cannot be found by incessant scour
But best when they are self- realized.

ps: I leave it to you all to connect the above two.

LIFE

Something prompted me to share this poem with you all which I wrote during fag end of my school days. These lines appeased me when I actually couldn't enucleate them myself. And now that the bequeathed wisdom is coming to fruition, I have to say this about life. The little I understand of it per se...

Good times, bad times
Come and go…

Love and hatred
Yes and no…

Dreams and nightmares
To and fro…

Black and white
Hawk and dove…

Yes, its life
Off-off, glow.

A bit of Tulika...

Hello Friends,
I realize that it's about time I should share something with you all. I just received  a reminder that it was time for my next post. Having read this reminder my gaze fell upon my cupboard which has a paper pasted on which some lines are scribbled in my handwriting. So I thought it would be delightful on my part to tell you something that I've always cherished, that something that marks the inception of my passion for poetry. I used to read various poets till then but they were more like happened to come across reads. But after I read this poet it really made me passionate about poetry. Fernando Pessoa, one of my most favourite poets had actually broken  the mould with those lines and  the very demarcation established was endless.A few lines from this verse are etched in me and I'll post it marking them in bolds. It's one of the most beautiful verses I've ever read.

THE KEEPER OF SHEEP II

My gaze is clear like a sunflower.
It is my custom to walk the roads
Looking right and left
And sometimes looking behind me,
And what I see at each moment
Is what I never saw before,
And I’m very good at noticing things.
I’m capable of feeling the same wonder
A newborn child would feel
If he noticed that he’d really and truly been born.
I feel at each moment that I’ve just been born
Into a completely new world…

I believe in the world as in a daisy,
Because I see it. But I don’t think about it,
Because to think is to not understand.
The world wasn’t made for us to think about it
But to look at it and to be in agreement.

I have no philosophy, I have senses…
If I speak of Nature it’s not because I know it
But because I love it,
Loving does not mean

What they love, why they love.

To love is eternal innocence,
And innocence is not to think of it…

I hope you all like it.
Best regards,
Tulika

Dusk

Blades golden brown
crisply stretched around
popped up goats out of nowhere.

Faraway a vast velvet green
lay over a giant
into one deep sleep
enticing dense fog and
a crescent.

Pellucid waters
volatile of vision
changed a course there
and made it  here
gushes in
exploring calm...

Disappearing into night
trees grow dark and
there's a spirit
light.

ps: Thanks for telling me to look out of the window.

Rose

Neatly pressed in those pages
Turned golden
Is my red rose
Turned golden
Are the days of yore.

Carrying soft fragrance
Of some old world
Still preserved in those petals.

Takes me to a place
Where winning some silly game
My cheers grow loud
And your eyes gleamed
I didn’t know
Why!

A smile collected
On a page
A page etched
Of a rose.

Red.. yellow.. Gold..
My life nothing
But  strokes
Of  few fond colours.

Untitled

As I hold these grains of sand
It aches to see them
Slip away.

A curtain specked
Unfurled through my fingers.

Away...
Away it goes...

And then a smile escapes.

I know one day
Each one would come back as
Pearl.

ps: Cheers to gorgeous moments..!!

Reflections...

The alchemist picked up a book that someone in the caravan had brought. Leafing through the pages, he found a story about Narcissus.

The alchemist knew the legend of Narcissus, a youth who knelt daily beside a lake to contemplate his own beauty. He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell into the lake and drowned. At the spot where he fell, a flower was born, which was called the narcissus.

But this was not how the author of the book ended the story.
He said that when Narcissus died, the goddesses of the forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.

“Why do you weep?” the goddesses asked.

“I weep for Narcissus,” the lake replied.

“Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for Narcissus,” they said, “For though we always pursued him in the forest, you alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand.”

“But…was Narcissus beautiful?” the lake asked.

“Who better than you to know that?” the goddesses said in wonder. “After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to contemplate himself!”

The lake was silent for some time. Finally, it said:
“I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected.”

--Excerpt from Alchemist by Paul Coelho--

I have always been enchanted with these lines.

And with this beautiful thought I bid you all adieu as exams are just around the corner. But I'll be right back next month and will surely catch up with some reading in between. I will miss you all. I mean it.

Warm regards,
Tulika

Me Verses You…

Gaze pressed against frozen window pane
And humming some long forgotten tune
Spawning corn fields
Of thin air
That slowly turn golden
Of your warm memories.
Reminded of a familiar scent
Taking places
Glimmering our happy faces.

Snowed for years
But a spread of sun over it
And pellucid cascade
Bathed in own soul.

Gush pristine
Of a quill possessed
Overwhelmed
Words few
Is me verses you…

Rare Sojourn…

Soft breeze,
Endless water,
Pondering …

Yeah, what else!

Waves combed to your contours.
It seems the world has fallen in love with you.

Forgotten rains, melted crests,
Gushing past me.
 The cool calm reminisces,
Gushing inside me.

Your numerous smiles,
Of forgotten origins fly across.
Aah...You,
One elixir,
A paragon of love unleashed.

Some agitation…
The Adam’s ale brewing,
Intoxicated, dancing to some wild tune,
Disturbing my impassioned thoughts.

The small swirls swell bigger,
And up comes one beauty.
Astonished, afraid,
 I retreat.

She sits by me,
Drying her tresses.
Myriad questions, tongue tied,
I gaze in disbelief.

And when she looked into my eyes,
More surprised she seemed.
Staring at me,
She made a brief greet.

I uttered hard:
Oh Mermaid!
Does water spirit really exist?
Those great tales of yore.
Vague chimera, another fantasy.
But now I see.

 Nodded delightedly,
 And then she bade.
Calling her back I asked,
The purpose of rare sojourn we had.

To my curiosity
Of being at the brim
Heard of late,
She sang this hymn,
Oh Gal!
Does Love really exist?
Those great tales of yore.
Vague chimera, another fantasy.
But now I see.

One’s life,
Another’s folklore.
Smiles, further smiles,
And both plunged into life once more.

Waves combed to your contours.
Yes, the world has fallen in love with you.

Arm around my shoulder
And softly you say,
Come, let’s go home
Getting dark by the bay!
