A Lesson Learnt

Last week I took a break from my dull monotonous “file” life and went to my native place. One afternoon, I sat watching two of my youngest cousins (both about eight years old) as they were playing some trump card game. The cards belonged to one of them while the other played, won some and returned them back at the end of each game.

I curiously asked him-

“Why are you playing if you can’t keep the cards in the end?”

He smiled and promptly replied-

“Isse khushi milti hai.”

My twelve years advantage sank at those words- defeated. I was amazed to witness such innocence and simplicity in thoughts.

Had I lost it? Isn’t life about enjoying simple things in life, picking pleasure in small yet beautiful thoughts, actions, feelings and admiring things regardless of material possession?

Yes, I’ve learnt a lesson.

PS: Thanks Reet for teaching me something so beautiful.
